The world is one big bird cage, and I'm all out of seeds.
American Crow
These ones were enjoying some Mission BBQ right out of the dumpster! You’ll find them all over,
from urban to rural. These are the ones that make the classic "CAW!" sound, and will often be found in flocks together.
If you hear a crow that sounds like it inhaled helium, and you're on the east coast (USA), it's probably a fish crow.
European Starling
Common, but cool! Dark with white spots in the winter (pictured), but they develop a green and purple sheen in the summer.
I need to get better shots of these someday.
House Sparrow
Most of the time when you see a small brown bird in the US, it's a house sparrow. They shift through shades of brown as they molt throughout the years.
Believe it or not, these little guys use their notched beaks to kill other small birds and take over their nests.
Rock Pigeon
You will see them everywhere in NYC, but did you know they use the Earth's magnetic fields to find their way around?
And they also can get nutrients from eating vomit. Yum.
